09/11/2009 12:21:19 PM GMT

Istanbul, November 09 (QNA) - H.H the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, attended the opening session of the Economic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Standing Committee for Economic and Commerical Cooperation (COMCEC) , held at the Four Seasons hotel in Istanbul on Monday morning.
The session was also attended by H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al Thani , the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and T.E. the ministers who are  members of the accompnaying official delegation.
Addressing the session,  H.H the Emir asserted Qatar's belief in the role played by the OIC's COMCEC which provides opportunity to all members to explore ties of cooperation between them in all economic and commerical fields.     H.H the Emir referred to the challenges facing the islamic nation, mainly the weak and decreasing inter-trade noting meantime that Qatar has ratified the Framework Agreement on Trade Preferential System, and also signed the Protocol on the Preferential Tariff Scheme system of trade preferences .For removing the obstacles hindering such a trade , H.H the Emir voiced hope that all OIC member states should work to implement such agreement to realize the cherished objective.  Referring to the current economic and financial circumstances , H.H the Emir cautioned that amid such circumstances, all oic members should act to encourage inter-trade and provide the adequate atmopshere for that .
H.H the Emir made clear in this respect that the state of Qatar has doubled its efforts toward achieving more investments in several countries members of the organisation of islamic conference.
H.H The Emir reassured that last period has acquired the comcec the ample experience to be more able to enhance ties of cooperation between the member states and get  rid of the obstacles hindering such a cooperation. Stressing the need to combat poverty in the least developed countries, H.H the emir called on the summiteers to pay special priority to such an issue and not to use the current economic crisis to rid of the main target namely fighting poverty .
With such a problem getting more bigger in some countries , thus financial aid alone could not change the status of the poort and much attention should be accorded to developing the poor areas throuigh stamping out poverty and the other related problems such as ignorance , disease , crime and family disintegration or partition.¬
